Abstract

This article examines how constructivist visual form operated beyond the institutional and ideological conditions of its Soviet origin. Focusing on Chinese left-wing print culture and Yugoslav Zenithism publishing, it treats constructivism not as a stylistic influence or artistic doctrine, but as a set of formal operations, including geometric organization and typographic integration. Through comparative analysis of printed visual materials, the study shows how these operations were selectively extracted and recombined within constrained, extra-institutional publishing practices. Under conditions of limited resources, censorship, and unstable circulation, constructivist strategies organized attention and structured perception in print. The article argues that through this process of operational compression, constructivist form shifted from an avant-garde artistic program into a transferable mode of visual communication, offering a framework for reconsidering cross-regional aesthetic exchange beyond stylistic influence or direct transmission.
