Žarko Aleksić is an Assistant Professor at the New Media Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. After studying philosophy at the University of Belgrade, he continued his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. (Professor Martin Gutmann) Aleksić is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna (Margareta Jahramnn), wherehis compelling doctoral dissertation explores the theme of “Consciousness as an Artistic Medium”.  The artist defines his artistic practice as post-disciplinary, grounded in personal phenomenology, and investigating consciousness, mental processes, and artificial intelligence in relation to the socio-political issues of cognitive capitalism. Žarko Aleksić has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Serbia, Austria, andseveral other countries. He is living and working between Belgrade and Vienna.
